Alex Bowen Becomes UAlbany's First Junior USA National Track & Field Champion
Bloomington, Indiana - Alex Bowen wons the
high jump with a leap of 6-feet, 10.25-inches at the USA Junior National
Championship, held at the University of Indiana, becoming UAlbany's first ever
Junior Champion. Bowen became the 10th Junior All-American in school history. Although Bowen won the National Championship
title, he narrowly missed qualifying to represent the USA for the World Junior
Championship in Barcelona, Spain (July 10-15, 2012) by just 1 centimeter. Bowen
set the indoor school record as a freshman this past season, with a jump of
7-feet, .25-inches, and won both the Indoor and Outdoor America East
Championship.
