VESTAL, N.Y. – Senior Brittney Lane led five University at Albany athletes finishing in the top ten at the America East Pre-Conference meet at Binghamton this weekend. The Danes finished first overall as a team, earning a three-point victory over second place Vermont.
All five scoring athletes for UAlbany finished in the top ten in a field of 56 competitors. Lane finished in first place overall, covering the 5k course in 18:13.4. Junior Silvia Del Fava finished third overall with a time of 18:29.7. Senior Kathryn Fanning finished seventh in 18:50.7. Freshman Jessica Donohue and junior Molly Pezzulo were UAlbany’s final two scoring athletes, finishing in eighth and ninth place with times of 18:56.6 and 19:10.6, respectively. Rounding out UAlbany’s top seven were freshman Johanna Smith, who finished 12th overall with a time of 19:16.6, and senior Brianne Bellon, who finished 16th in 19:25.8.
Also competing for UAlbany were freshman Schuyler Pruyn (34th, 20:11.2), and freshman Katayzyna Geiger (54th, 22:53.5).
UAlbany scored 28 points and finished in first place out of a field of five teams. Vermont finished in a close second place, scoring 31 points. UMBC scored 82 points to finish in third place. Binghamton and UMass Lowell finished in fourth and fifth, scoring 114 and 120 points, respectively.
The UAlbany women will enjoy a week off before traveling to Iona on September 21 to compete in the Br. Doyle Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y.
