Paula Heuser Earns Third America East Field Hockey Rookie of the Week Nod

CAMBRIDGE, MASS. – University at Albany field hockey’s Paula Heuser was named the America East Rookie of the Week this week for the third time this season.

Shop for 2013 NFL Breast Cancer Awareness Apparel and AccessoriesHeuser scored the gamewinner in a 2-1 win at Maine on Saturday in her first league contest. The freshman currently ranks third in the league in points per game (1.92) and is tied for second in goals scored (9). Heuser tops all rookies in both categories. She currently trails Fairfield’s Felicitas Heinen and teammate Daphne Voormolen in points and goals. Heinen was the league’s top goal-scorer a year ago.

The midfielder earned the league’s weekly rookie honor for the third time in 2013. The only America East field hockey rookie to win the award more times since UAlbany has been in the league is Valentina Cerda from Boston University; she won the conference’s rookie of the week award four times in the 2011 season.
UAlbany continues league play this Saturday against Vermont at home at 3 p.m.
