
McConville converted her fourth penalty stroke of the season to start the scoring, getting the Great Danes on the board in the 18th minute. Hillary Fitts tied the game at 1-all before the end of the first half, scoring an unassisted goal that deflected into the cage.
McConville put the Great Danes back on top in the second half, taking assists from Jessica Longstreth and Daphne Voormolen on a penalty corner, giving UAlbany a 2-1 lead at 47:34. Voormolen added an insurance goal for the Great Danes two minutes later, getting an unassisted shot past Fairfield goaltender Maddy Sposito to set the final margin.
UAlbany outshot the Stags, 15-11, and held an 8-4 advantage in penalty corners. Kristi Troch made four saves in the cage for the Great Danes, while Sposito stopped eight shots between the pipes for Fairfield (7-8, AE 0-3).
UAlbany will return to action on Sunday, hosting Lehigh in non-conference action at 2 p.m.
