Men's Lacrosse Holds First Scrimmage of 2013 Season Against Colgate
ALBANY, N.Y. -- The University at
Albany men's lacrosse team held its first scrimmage of the season on Saturday
afternoon at John Fallon Field, taking on Colgate, the 11th ranked team in the
preseason rankings.
The two teams played four
full quarters of action, with a fifth period of 10-minute running time, to
ensure all players got on-field action. In the first preseason game for both
teams, there were no official stats kept, but the squads were able to get
game-situation experience and a feel for what the 2013 season holds.
"It was a great day, getting
one of the top teams in the country out here," said UAlbany head coach Scott
Marr, whose team was chosen as the preseason favorite in the America East
Conference. "We had the Tewaaraton Trophy winner here today, and got everyone
some good experience."
UAlbany will continue preseason for the
next two weeks, and have one more scrimmage - on Feb. 9 at Cornell - before
kicking off the regular season on Feb. 17 at Syracuse.
