Louisville, Ky. – University at
Albany starting pitcher Brittany MacFawn was named to the 2013 National
Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I Northeast Second Team on Tuesday, May 17. MacFawn, a junior, was the 2013 America East Pitcher of the Year after
breaking both the program and conference single-season wins record.
MacFawn had one of the most dominant years in
the circle of any pitcher in program history. The righthander broke UAlbany’s
single-season record in inning’s pitched (256.1), strikeouts (283), complete
games (34) and games started (36). She broke an America East and program
single-season record with 28 wins. Her K:BB (283:30) ratio was amongst the top
in the nation, nearly 8:1. A four-time America East Pitcher of the Week, she was
even better in league play, going 12-1 with a 0.75 ERA and 123 punchouts. MacFawn finished the season at 28-9 with a 2.11
ERA.
A total
of 263 players representing 137 different institutions comprise this season's
NFCA Division I All-Region teams. Teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from
each respective region, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection
to one of three 2013 NFCA Division I All-American teams. In addition, conference
pitchers and players of the year not selected to the regional teams were added
for All-America consideration.
The 2013 NFCA Division I All-America teams
will be announced at 4 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, May 29, via
NFCA.org.
