DIRTcar Hall of Fame 60 to Open Super
DIRTcar Series Season
ELBRIDGE, N.Y. - Central New York race
fans are preparing for a night of excitement Wednesday, June 5, when the
Big-Block Modifieds of the Super DIRTcar Series will tackle Rolling Wheels
Raceway Park for the DIRTcar Hall of Fame 60. In addition to the action-packed
racing fans have come to expect at "The Fast Track," DIRTcar Hall of Fame 60
attendees can expect endless thrills on the midway, in the competitor pits, and
in the grandstands.
Rolling Wheels concessions are again ready to step up to the task of providing quality, affordable items at Central New York's premier motorsports venue. Two-dollar Hoffman hot dogs, and bucket beer specials for those over 21, promise to fuel fans as well as VP RacingFuels fills up a Big-Block Modified. The midway at Rolling Wheels offers a wide array of concession options, from nachos to pizza, from fried dough to salt potatoes, to satiate diverse appetites. Vendors such as Buck & Ruthie's Famous Ice Cream Treats, the Candyman, and Barney's Barbecue add to the culinary variety.
"We may have the best deal in town on hot dogs and hamburgers. Wash it all down with your favorite Pepsi or Budweiser product, and you can't find a better way to spend the evening with your family or a few friends" said Rolling Wheels Raceway Park General Manager Jeff Hachmann. "It's just another one of those small things that adds up to big entertainment at Rolling Wheels. With great concessions, exciting midway entertainment, and some of the best drivers around, Rolling Wheels offers a complete experience to race fans beyond just the action on the track."
Families will find that there's no limit to the fun they can have at Rolling Wheels, with bounce houses, driver autograph sessions, merchandise booths, and other midway displays to entertain children of all ages. Significant child and student discounts at the gate make this fun event affordable as well, with general admission for students ages 10 to 17 selling for just $10 and children 9 and under admitted for FREE into general admission sections!
An addition to the midway in 2013 is an easily accessible safety and first-aid station to serve fans and staff in the case of accident or emergency.
"My goal is to provide the best in emergency services to drivers and fans alike," said Rolling Wheels and Super DIRT Week Safety Coordinator Tony McIntyre. "The fan-facing safety and first-aid station will ensure that patrons in the grandstand area will be able to seek prompt medical attention."
McIntyre, who has 30 years of experience in emergency services and also serves as Baldwinsville Fire Chief, said an expansion to emergency services staff will make it possible to provide the station while still providing top-notch care to competitors in case of an emergency on the track. Every emergency services provider on staff is highly trained in emergency medical services and has ten or more years of experience in the field.
With the Super DIRTcar Series opener, the Sportsman Modified Series, the Midstate Vintage Stock Car Club, and the 2013 Dirt Motorsports Hall of Fame and Classic Car Museum inductees all part of the DIRTcar Hall of Fame 60, spectators will find no shortage of amusement on and off the track. Avid race fans will know that half the fun of race nights is the personalities - listening to the antics of Super DIRTcar Series announcer Shane Andrews, watching the flagging flair of starter Dave Farney, seeing how that one lucky driver reacts when he or she draws the front row in the feature, and occasionally having that rare chance to meet one of the legends of racing. At the Rolling Wheels Raceway's DIRTcar Hall of Fame, this chance may not be so rare, as members of the 2013 class of inductees to the Dirt Motorsports Hall of Fame & Classic Car Museum will be present at an autograph session at 5:15 p.m.
Additionally, Rolling Wheels is upping the ante for the track and series opener by inviting 95x radio personality Big Smoothie to act as grand marshal and honorary starter. The station will be broadcasting live from the Rolling Wheels midway and will have games and merchandise available at the "If It Rocks, It's On 95x" booth.
Dedicated race fans will also have the opportunity to receive a FREE Fan Pit Pass with every ticket purchased in advance, allowing them entry to competitor pits after 5 p.m. to meet their favorite drivers. FREE parking and FREE general camping make the DIRTcar Hall of Fame 60 at Rolling Wheels Raceway affordable for fans from near and far.
When the Big-Block Modifieds of the Super DIRTcar Series rev their engines and line up for their signature four-wide salute, all the fans in the grandstand will realize why the racing action at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park is second to none. The long straight-aways of the 5/8-mile track and the wide turns allow drivers to reach speeds unattainable at most dirt short tracks. Matt Sheppard will look to continue his reign at Rolling Wheels, having earned victory at both Super DIRTcar Series events there as well as taking the Super DIRTcar Series crown.
