Albany Men’s Basketball Opens 2013-14 Season Against Siena
ALBANY, N.Y. – With the 2013-14 men’s basketball season just four months from opening tip-off, the University at Albany announced its 13-game non-conference schedule. The non-conference slate features the season-opener against longtime crosstown rival Siena and two NCAA Tournament participants.
“Our non-schedule this year is a balanced one that I am confident will get us ready for America East Conference play,” said head coach Will Brown. “The non-conference schedule is highlighted with a game at Pitt of the ACC in the Petersen Events Center which is one of the best basketball venues in the country. We will have 13 non-conference games to integrate our new players with our veterans as we prepare to compete for an America East Conference Championship.”
The Great Danes’ non-league schedule is highlighted with their season-opener against Siena and its newly hired head coach Jimmy Patsos at the Times Union Center. UAlbany and the Saints will face-off for the 54th time, which is the program’s third most contests against a Division I opponent behind Binghamton (91 times) and Stony Brook (61 times).
Then Will Brown and co. will be tested against two 2013 NCAA Tournament participants. On November 23, the Great Danes host the defending Patriot League Champions, Bucknell, in SEFCU Arena. Then on New Years’ Eve, UAlbany will travel to play Pittsburgh in the Petersen Events Center. The 16-game America East Conference schedule, along with games times with television designation, will be released later this summer.
