Bachetti Wins as Points Wind Down at High Banks

West Lebanon, NY: The month of August at the famed Valley of Speed brings with it everyone ‘A’ game as the season is only a few weeks away from wrapping up all the season long point championships ane chances to get that coveted win on the high banks.

This past Saturday night was no disappointment either, as the action was hot and heavy in all classes, including the marquee feature event, the Armory Garage and VP Race Fuels Big Block Modified 30 Lap shootout.

‘The KingFish’ Mike King and John Ruchel brought the stacked field to the green. But by the time the caution flew on lap 3 for a spinning #101 of Jimmy Burns, Andy Bachetti had powered his #34B to the top spot to secure his chance at a win. Then on the restart, yet another caution slowed the field, this time for a multi-car incident that included J.C. Flach, Kyle Hoffman and Keith Flach.

Out front though was the ‘Wild Child’, Andy Bachetti, taking full control of the field. Caution flew again on lap 14 for the #60 of Brian Berger, as his struggling night got worse with a blown right rear. Bachetti was still in control, but the heat was coming as Kenny Tremont Jr found the fast way around and began to hunt down the #34B.

Tremont wasn’t the only one, the #20H and current point leader, Brett Hearn was turning up the heat as well as he made his way into 3rd by lap 18, then past Tremont for 2nd by lap 24.

But Hearn had nothing for the #34B of Bachetti; as he held on to take the win. Hearn finished second followed by Tremont, Kyle Sheldon and Donnie Corellis.

Later in the evening, the Matt Plunkett Memorial 7 Lap Shootout was held for those with 1 Win or less, that was won by Kolby Schroder who received a $500 bonus.

Derek Schibi brought the LV Sportsman field to the green for their 20 lap feature event. His #12S stayed in control until lap 8 when the #55 of Brett Haas powered his way past the #12s and took over the lead.

After that, no one had anything for the #55, as Haas scored the victory. Ryan Darcy raced his way to 2nd, followed by Schibi, Kim LaVoy and Frank Harper.

In the Budget Sportsman 20 lap feature, Cody Hunt brought the field to green with his #28. Hunt’s lead though was brief, by lap 4 the #14x of Scott Duel powered by, and never looked back. At the checker, Haas scored the win with Peter Carlotto, Tommy Johnson, Bobby Hackel IV and Frank Hoard rounding out the top 5 finishers.

The full-fendered Pro Stocks took to the speedway for their 20 lap feature which saw a 5 car shootout for the win in the closing dozen laps after the early leader Robbie Speedway was taken out by a lap car.

Jason Casey, Chad Jeseo, Jay Corbin, Jon Routhier and Victor Hopkins were all door to door and bumper to bumper for the remaining laps, but it was Jason Casey who prevailed and took the victory.

Following Casey at the finish was Jay Corbin, Jon Routhier, Chad Jeseo, and Victor Hopkins to round out the top 5.

Earlier in the night, the Purestocks took to the high banks for their feature events, and in PS#1 Jim Groncki took the win while in PS#2 Ed Hatch powered in for the win. While in PS#3 Bob Palmer finally scored the win in their 12 lap feature.

Next Saturday Night it’s the Season Finale for the Big Block Modifieds as Pepsi and JH Financial present a $3,000 to win Modified feature. Also on tap is the Pro Stock ECHO Series along with all weekly divisions.

Then on Saturday September 8th, it’s the Steve Hough Motors and Boomer’s Performance presenting the 9th Annual Boomer’s Performance 20 Lap Purestock Classic.
