Albany, N.Y.- UAlbany (0-0-1) head
east to faceoff against the Minutewomen of UMass (1-1) on Sunday, August 26 at
Rudd Field (1 pm). This is the fifth meeting between the two teams with Umass
holding the advantage 4-2. The last time the Great Danes faced off against the
Minutewomen was on September 6, 2010 in Albany, N.Y. The Great Danes took the
match 1-0 after a goal from Shayla Bergeron.
• Sunday's match will be
streamed live on UMass Athletic's All-Access
(www.umassathletics.com/allaccess/?media=326628).
UAlbany grabbed a tough point from Syracuse
in the 1-1 tie on Friday, August 24 at SU Soccer Stadium. Despite being outshot
22-6 and having not taken one corner kick (SU 13), the Great Danes found a way
to play 110 minutes of soccer with the Orange and manage a point. Senior forward
Regina Nowicki made all that happen with one shot in the 73rd minute of the
match.
Scouting the
Minutewomen
• UMass, an Atlantic-10 affliated team, having come off
a offensive battle against Bryant in which it resulted in a win, UMass has
started out the season 1-1. The Minutewomen opened the season against No. 6 UCLA
and fell just short of the upset in a 2-1 loss.
