ALBANY, N.Y. – For the second time
this season, junior wide receiver Kevin Chillis has been named the Northeast
Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, announced by the league office
Monday.
In
the University at Albany’s 63-34 victory over Central Connecticut State, Chillis
led the Great Danes with 118 all-purpose yards, including a 79-yard kickoff
return for a touchdown – the program’s first since 2006.
Leading 42-7 at the break, UAlbany did not let
up as Chillis, a native of Buffalo, N.Y., started the second stanza in style for
the Danes, slicing through the Blue Devils’ special teams unit 79-yards for the
score.
The
conference honor marks the second for Chillis this fall, and eighth for the
squad as a whole.
Ranking second on the team, Chillis totaled 901
all-purpose yards and six touchdowns this season.
With the win over CCSU, the Great Danes
earned a share of the NEC title and ended the 2012 campaign with a 9-2 overall
record and 7-1 mark in conference.
