SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior forward Louis Clark (Brighton, England) was named to both the College Soccer News and TopDrawerSoccer.com National Teams of the Week Monday, Nov. 19 for his performance in last night’s second-round NCAA Tournament match. Clark scored two goals, including the game-winner in the second overtime, to lift the Orange to a 3-2 win over 14th-seeded VCU.
After the Orange fell behind 2-0 early, Clark netted his first goal of the game in the 21st minute to close the gap to one. Then, with 2:14 to play in the second OT period, Clark tallied the match-winner to propel the Orange into the tournament’s third round.
Clark has started every game for Syracuse this season. He has four goals and four assists for a total of 12 points.
This is as deep into the postseason as Syracuse has ever advanced. The Orange will take on No. 3 seed Georgetown in the third round on Sunday, Nov. 25 at North Kehoe Field in Washington, D.C. The winner advances to the NCAA quarterfinals.
