Anna Seneta Earns America East Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After netting the game-winning goal in the season opener against Florida Atlantic, University at Albany freshman back Anna Seneta has been selected as the America East Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Seneta took her first collegiate shot in the 37th minute against Florida Atlantic, kicking a pass from Aubrey VanGorder into the back of the net to give UAlbany the 1-nil lead. Both of Seneta's shots in the game were on goal.


The Great Danes shutout the Owls in the game 2-0 for the team's first multiple-goal victory in the season opener since 2001.

This is the team's first Rookie of the Week honor since 2011, when Jackie Ubert got the honor for the week ending October 9th.

Seneta and the Great Danes will take on Syracuse on the road at 7 p.m. on Friday.
