Field Hockey Names Jessica Longstreth Volunteer Assistant Coach

ALBANY, N.Y.- University at Albany field hockey head coach Phil Sykes announced the appointment of former Great Dane Jessica Longstreth to the position of volunteer assistant coach on Wednesday. Longstreth was named to the 2012 NFHCA All-America Second Team as a graduate student with UAlbany.

“We are very excited to Jessica on board as a volunteer coach,” said Sykes. “Jessica will be a great addition to the coaching staff, bringing with her a very polished playing background.”

Longstreth will continue to pursue her Master’s degree in social work at UAlbany while serving as a volunteer assistant.
As a midfielder with the Great Danes last season, Longstreth led the team to its third America East Championship in five years. She ranks second all-time in single season assists with 17, and tallied 33 points total last season. In addition to her All-American status in 2012, she was named to the All-America East first team and the league’s All-Tournament team.
In her three years at Penn State, Longstreth collected third team All-America honors and NFHCA All-Region First Team accolades. She was also named first team All-Big Ten in 2010, and was selected as the league’s Freshman of the Year in 2008.
