Keith Flach Captures Emotional Return To Victory Lane

West Lebanon, NY: The clock is ticking, as the 2013 Points season in winding down at the famed Valley of Speed. Just 2 short weeks are left for both the Big Block Modifieds, and the Pro Stock full fendered division. Armory Garage and Anderson Equipment presented a special Big Block ‘King of the Catskills’ qualifier and the Echo Power Play Series was on tap for the Pro Stocks.

The Big Block Modifieds took to the high banks for their 30 lap feature that gave the winner a guaranteed starting spot in the ‘King of the Catskills’ at ESW later in the year. At the point, Paul Gilardi’s #87X brought the field to the green.

But Gilardi’s night slowly got worse from there, as outside front row starter Keith Flach, powered by Gilardi by lap 3 and took over the top spot. The #87X faded quickly through the field, and went pitside by lap 12 with mechanical issues.
But up front, Flach, aboard the #77J in 2013, a tribute to his late brother J.C. Flach, powered away from the field and built a lead by the halfway point. Back in the field, the points contenders were fighting for each and every spot.
Auto Parts WarehouseBrett Hearn finally cracked the top 5 by lap 22 as the caution flew for the #98s of Kolby Schroder losing a motor in turn 2. At the restart, Flach once again powered away from the #42 of Kyle Sheldon and the #60 of Brian Berger, and charged for the remaining 8 circuits to take the emotional win.
Keith Flach scored the win, with Sheldon in tow. Hearn battled his way to 3rd, followed by Eddie Marshall and Kenny Tremont Jr. rounded out the top 5 finishers.
The Budget Sportsman took to the Valley of Speed for their 20 lap feature with the #51 of Brandon Page taking off to the early lead. Page held strong out front until a 3 wide battle for the top spot relegated the #51 to 3rd by lap 10 behind the #1 of Tyler Dippel and the #27 of Josh Gaylord.
Dippel’s car was strong as he pulled away and captured the win over hard charging Matt Pappa in his #20JR and Tommy Johnson’s #45. Ray Hall Jr powered his way into 4th and Gaylord had to settle for 5th.
In the Echo Power Play Pro Stock feature, the #81 of Milo Campbell took the early lead of Frank Twing. But Twing was just getting warmed up as he powered his #317 past Campbell by lap 7. Caution slowed the field nearly a handful more times, but Twing had the field well in hand, scoring his 1st win on the year.
At the checkers, Frank Twing took the win, followed by veteran Robbie Speed finishing 2nd for the 2nd week in a row. Jason Casey rolled across the line 3rd, with current point leader Jay Corbin battling back to finish 4thwith Victor Hopkins holding on to finish 5th.
Earlier on the night, the Purestocks took to the high banks for their features, as Matt Cross scored the win in PS#1. Jay Casey took the win in PS#2, and John Felarecki scored the win in PS#3.
Next Saturday Night, August 31st, is the Final Night of Points for both the Big Block Modifieds and the Pro Stocks presented by All Star Tractor Training and Pepsi. $3,000 to Win Modified Feature, plus Budget Sportsman, and the rest of the weekly divisions will be on tap.
Then, the final night of the season, on Saturday September 7th, DiCarlo Auto Body presents the Small Block Modifieds, plus the 10th Annual Boomer’s Performance 20 Lap Purestock Classic! Budget Sportsman and 4 Cylinders will also be on tap to wrap up their points championships as well.
