SU MEN’S SOCCER 20TH IN NSCAA/CONTINENTAL TIRE PRESEASON POLL

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Syracuse men’s soccer team is ranked No. 20 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Continental Tire preseason rankings, released on Tuesday, Aug. 13. The Orange is coming off a 14-6-1 season and a No. 17 ranking in last year’s final NSCAA poll.

The Orange is one six ACC schools to appear in the initial 2013 poll. Fellow conference members Maryland (No. 2), North Carolina (No. 4), Notre Dame (No. 7), Wake Forest (No. 17) and Virginia (No. 25) are also ranked to start the year.
Defending national champion Indiana is No. 1, while Maryland, Georgetown, North Carolina and Connecticut round out the top five.
Syracuse brings back 16 players, including six starters, from a 2012 squad that advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. The Orange begins preseason training tomorrow and the team’s first exhibition match is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 18 against Fordham.
