CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The University at Albany men's basketball senior guard Mike Black was named to the All-Conference First Team, on Friday, Mar. 8. Black has been placed on the All-Conference squad all four years at UAlbany (2012 - second team; 2011 - third team; 2010 - rookie team).

Along with Black, Peter Hooley was placed on the All-Rookie team to round out the Great Dane All-Conference selections. Jacob Iati and Sam Rowley were both named to America East All-Academic squad.
Black has decorated himself in his four seasons as a Great Dane. For accolades, the senior guard has been on the All-Conference squad every year and was recently named to the 2012-13 Bob Cousy Watch List for excellent play as a point guard. As for stats, the Chicago, Ill. native is the conference's leading scorer (1,493) and assist man (375), both of which currently place him sixth all-time at UAlbany, respectively.

Hooley earned his all-rookie nomination with his emergence in the second half of the season, having been placed in the starting lineup. During his 11 games as a starter, the redshirt-freshman guard averaged 10.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists, increasing his totals from 6.7 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists as a reserve.

Iati's current 3.43 GPA for his master's in business administration and proficient shooting behind the arc garnered him his second year on the America East All-Academic team. The graduate student guard is shooting 41.4 percent from three-point land and recorded 84 three-pointers this season.

Rowley earned a spot on the All-Academic team with UAlbany's highest GPA (3.72) of players playing in 20 minutes or more and his stellar conference play. In conference, the sophomore forward tallied the team's second most points per game (11.1) and a team-best 7.6 rebounds per game.

The Great Dane All-Conference selections and the rest of the squad will prepare to face the No. 5 seeded Maine on Saturday, March 9 at 8 p.m. in SEFCU Arena.
