ST. LUCIE, FL – The Binghamton Mets and
Springfield Cardinals matched zeroes the entire day, playing to a 0-0 draw this
afternoon at the New York Mets Spring Training complex.
Domingo Tapia started for
the B-Mets and allowed one single over four scoreless innings of work. Signed as
a non-drafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 2009, the righty went
6-5 with a 3.98 ERA in 19 starts with the Savannah Sand Gnats (Low-A) last
year.
Tapia passed the torch to
Jacob DeGrom, who followed with three shutout innings of relief. The Floridian
went 9-3 with a 2.43 ERA between Savannah and the St. Lucie Mets (High-A) in
2012.
The B-Mets continue their
