SYRACUSE,
N.Y. – Sophomore defenseman Brandon Mullins (Coppell, Texas) will
miss the remainder of the 2013 season due to a right knee injury that will
require surgery. Mullins suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of the
Orange’s 9-8 overtime win against Virginia on March 1.
Mullins has
started 12 games in his SU career, including two of the Orange’s first three
games this season. He picked up two ground balls and caused one turnover in 2013
before getting hurt.
Earlier this week, Mullins was named to the BIG
EAST Honor Roll for his performance in the Virginia game. Mullins helped guard
UVa attackman Nick O’Reilly who did not record a point in Friday’s contest.
As a
freshman last season, Mullins played in all 17 games with 10 starts. He
registered 27 ground balls and was fourth on the team with 13 caused
turnovers.
