PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Three days after
scoring six first-quarter goals against Johns Hopkins, No. 4 Syracuse (5-1, 2-0
BIG EAST) duplicated the feat in an 18-9 victory against Providence (5-2, 0-2)
on a chilly Tuesday night at Lennon Family Field. The Orange closed the opening
period on a 6-0 run and never looked back in handing the Friars their first home

SUs’ reserves to close the gap to 17-9. DeJoe ended the Providence run and put
the finishing touches on the victory, scoring unassisted with 41 seconds left to
produce the final score.
The Orange offense was remarkably efficient, connecting on 18 of
its 37 shots (.486) in the game. SU was also 3-for-5 (.600) with the extra
