Blaze Riorden Earns His First Career Rookie Of The Week Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – With a career day in a win over then-No. 10 Johns Hopkins, freshman goalie Blaze Riorden was named America East Conference Rookie of the Week, which was announced by the conference office on Monday, April 8.



On Friday, Riorden recorded his second impressive game between the pipes against a storied men’s lacrosse team. Prior to Johns Hopkins, the freshman goalie began the season with a win over Syracuse in the Dome, having recorded 13 saves on 28 chances. Then against Johns Hopkins, he tallied a career-best 20 saves on 30 chances. Riorden improved his goals against average in the last four games from 13.97 goals to 11.87 goals per game.

The Great Danes will have a week to prepare before they face Vermont on Saturday, April 13 at Virtue Field. The game is set for 1 p.m.
