ALBANY, N.Y. – Despite some very un-springlike weather, the University at Albany football program kicked off its 2013 spring season Monday afternoon at University Field. Amidst a few snowflakes and wind gusts nearing 35mph, the Great Danes enthusiastically began prepping for a new era in UAlbany football.

In the first of 15 practices, the Danes dressed for non-contact drills in helmets and brand new purple and gold jerseys, focusing on position-specific fundamentals.

This spring, head coach Bob Ford (264-180-1), who enters his 44th season at UAlbany, looks to establish a depth chart, develop young players, and prepare the Great Danes for the program’s 41st varsity season and first season in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).

Check out the video above to hear Coach Ford, quarterback Will Fiacchi, and wide receiver Kevin Chillis’ take on day one of the spring season.
