Great Danes Earn 14 Seed and Will Dance Against North Carolina in NCAA Tournament

The game, which will tip off at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, will be televised live on ESPN2. Analysts will be Pam Ward and Rebecca Lobo.

The two programs are meeting for the first time, and North Carolina is just the third ACC team that UAlbany has faced. The Great Danes played at Duke in 2010 and faced Virginia in 2004.

This is the second straight season UAlbany is making an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Great Danes became the fourth team in America East history and the first since Maine in 1996 to go undefeated in the America East regular season and win the tournament title. UAlbany, which posted a 27-3 record this season, also became the first No. 1 seed to win the league crown since 2008, and the first No. 1 seed to defeat the No. 2 seen since 2000.

North Carolina earned a third seed after finishing 28-6 overall and falling to Duke, 92-73, in the ACC Championship. The Tarheels, who have made 23 previous apperances in the NCAA Tournament, did not compete in the tournament last season.
