Men's Basketball And Stony Brook Tangle For A Spot In Conference Finals

1. Fourth Year In A RowThe University at Albany's road to the America East Conference Finals will have to go through Stony Brook for the fourth season in a row. The Great Danes host the Seawolves on Sunday, March 10 at 7 p.m. at SEFCU Arena on ESPN3. Stony Brook took the home-and-home series for the second straight year. 2. Gutsy PerformanceIn a deadlock contest between UAlbany and Maine to advance to the America East Semifinals, sophomore forward Sam Rowley put his teammates on his back and carried them to a 50-49 win on Saturday, March 9. Rowley went off for game-best 19 points and 8 rebounds, recording his final eight points in the last two and half minutes of the game. Over his last five games, the Sydney, Australia native is averaging 14.2 points and 5.6 rebounds a game. 3. 1,500-Point ManSeems that senior guard Mike Black has great games and reaches milestones against the Maine Black Bears. Two months earlier to the America East Quarterfinal contest, Black tallied a career-best scoring performance of 28 points. A month earlier to the quarterfinal game, the Chicago, Ill. native hit the 1,400-point plateau in Orono, Maine. With his nine points in the quarterfinal game, the senior guard reached the 1,500-point plateau. He is the sixth player in UAlbany history and 44th player in America East history to accomplish the feat. 4. Many Miles Under These LegsSenior center Blake Metcalf has seen and played his fair share of basketball at UAlbany. When he entered the contest against Maine, the Camby, Ind. native tallied his 130th consecutive game played as a Great Dane. The 130 consecutive games is the most by any UAlbany played to put on the jersey in program history. 5. Dreaded Sunday...The America East Semifinal game will land on a Sunday when the Great Danes and Seawolves tip-off. This will be UAlbany's fourth contest that land on a Sunday. However, the Great Danes have struggled on this "Holy" day, having fallen in the past three contests this season. UAlbany has lost to Ohio State, Loyola (Md.), and Stony Brook on Sunday, with the latter contests by a combined eight points.
