Women’s Track And Field Shines In Puerto Rico

CAROLINA, PUERTO RICO – In the first outdoor meet of the season, the University at Albany women’s track and field team captured four event titles Saturday at the 7th Annual Carolina Spring Break Classic in Carolina, Puerto Rico. Leading the squad, junior Kathryn Fanning broke a meet record with her 2:10.62 mark in the 800m.

Brittney Lane recorded the top time in the 3,000m run (9:45.37), while Rochelle Reid placed first in the high jump, clearing 5’ 5”. In addition, the 4x400m relay team composed of Aderinsola Ajala, Tynelle Taylor-Chase, Dominique Claudio, and Sherez Mohamed won the event with a 3:42.00 mark.

Other highlights included the 4x100m relay team’s second-place finish with a time of 47.35. Ashlee Maduro, Jillian Haynes, Kahlia Taylor, and Alli Rogers shared the quick legs.

Shop OneStopFanShop.com Today!UAlbany also had a number of top-three finishes throughout the day, including Pat McNish’s triple jump mark (38’ 10.25”), Brianne Bellon’s 1500m run (4:37.80), Taylor-Chase’s 100m hurdle performance (14.99), Mohamed’s 400m dash mark (56.64), and Silvia Del Fava’s 3,000m time (10:21.23). In addition, Taylor-Chase placed second in the 400m hurdles (1:02.50), and Rogers’ time of 25.03 in the 200m dash was good for fourth.


Up next, the Great Danes compete at the University of Central Florida Invitation March 22-23.
