Centerville, Mass.- UAlbany first baseman Charlise Castro added onto her weekly awards this week by being named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week, which was voted on by the conference office. Castro was recently recognized by the America East, for the third time this season, as the Player of the Week.
Castro, a Saugerties, N.Y. native, is being recognized for the first time this season as the ECAC Hitter of the Week, after batting .750 (8-for-12) with one home run and 10 runs batted in to improve her conference-leading batting average to .482, which is ranked third in division one.
Castro and the rest of the UAlbany softball team looks to carry its six-game winning streak into the non-conference doubleheader against Bryant on Thursday, April 26 at Albany Field (3 pm).
