T-Mac Takes Albany-Saratoga Checkers

Malta, NY ― The weather was hot and so was the racing at promoter Lyle DeVore’s final day of his duel season opener at Albany Saratoga Speedway. Tim McCreadie and Brett Hearn’s performance in the modified feature event left the fans talking as they vacated the Malta based oval at the end of the evening.
From the drop of the green flag the race belonged to Chris Busta, his entire night was impressive. Busta started the event from the front row and owned the lead role until McCreadie took over.
The action behind Busta was plentiful as many were coming up through the field. Brett Hearn, Kenny Tremont and Ronnie Johnson just some of those making people take notice.
The race being red flagged on lap 20 when the ambulance was required in the infield after Jason Herrington pulled his automobile off the track due to injuries he suffered when the driveshaft broke in his car. Fortunately Herrington’s leg was not broken and the ambulance crew tended to him.
All the while McCreadie was antsy. He started the 35 lap feature event from the outside of the sixth row ― the 12th place slot. It was a show in itself watching McCreadie master the 4/10 speedway as he picked off car after car finally securing the lead on the 26th circuit. And everywhere that McCreadie went, so did Albany saratoga's winningest driver Brett Hearn. After Hearn secured the second place position on the 32ns time around the speedway, it was all 'edge of the seat' racing up front for the final three laps.

McCreadie was extremely jublient in victory lane. Hearn, Tremont, Busta and Marc Johnson rounded out the top five.

"I felt great." said the 38-year old McCreadie. "That was about the best I've felt in a Modified in a long time. You could dime in the corners ands do some things - if you had to cut in the bottomw it was a beautiful thing. A beautiful car tonight."

The 25-lap Pro Stock feature belonged to Rob Langevin who had control for the entire event. Langevin is no stranger to victory lane ast the Malta Oval and had to hold off strong challneges from Rob Yetman to secure the win in a caution plagued event. 

Chad Jeseo, Chip Smith and Jeff Washburn rounded out the top five.

Yetman was a strong challenge all night but despite his efforts he finished 10th. He got hung up behind a car that unexpectedly slowed on the racetrack and some late track action saw yetman experience two flat tires over the course of the event.

Joe Duprey took the win in the 20 lap Street Stock feature. Duprey went from fifth to first in no time at all and held on for the distance. Duprey had Rowdy Burch, Phil Sherman, Randy Miller and Paul Mulrain follow him across the finish line.

When the final checkered fell on the two day affair - promoter DeVore looked tired, yet overly content.

"We are extremely happy with everything," said the 40 year old deVore. "We had two great crowds, two great days of weather and the racing was great. We couldn't ask for anything more. I really want to thank everybody that came out and supported us."
