PHILADELPHIA – The College of Saint Rose battled blustery conditions to conclude its showing at the 118th Penn Relay Carnival that is being held at Franklin Field on the University of Pennsylvania campus through Saturday. Wind gusts ranged from 20-25 miles per-hour throughout the day.

SAINT ROSE FINISHES STRONG AT PENN RELAYS
The 4x100 quartet of seniors Ryan Saunders (Cambridge, NY/Cambridge) and Jonathan Reyes (Bay Shore, NY/St. John the Baptist), and freshmen Chris Miller (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) and Kyle Thompson (Albany, NY/Albany) finished only a second behind the school standard. Their time of 43.88 placed them fourth in their heat and 72nd overall among 88 entries.
Saunders, Reyes and Miller were joined by junior Umar Hasan (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) in the 4x200. The squad crossed the line in 1:29.68 to end up 35th in the field of 50 teams.
Finally, Hasan, Saunders, and sophomores Howard DaCosta (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay) and Rolly Lloyd (Voorheesville, NY/Voorheesville) finished 55th in the 4x400 relay following a 3:27.36 clocking.
Earlier today, Hasan placed sixth in his heat and 47th overall in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 56.49. Meanwhile, sophomore Soroya Hudson (Cornwall, NY/Cornwall) registered a distance of 11.16 meters (36-7.75) to take 18th in the triple jump.
Looking ahead, both squads are scheduled to make the short trip to Troy for the Capital District Classic that is being hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The schedule of events is set to get underway at 11:00 am from Ned Harkness Field and Track.
