Orono, Maine - Jeffrey Gibbs allowed just two hits over six innings while striking out seven to lead Maine to a 10-0 win over UAlbany in the three-game America East Conference baseball series finale on Sunday afternoon at Mahaney Diamond. The Great Danes fall to 14-27-1 overall, and 8-6, while the Black Bears improve to 22-19 on the season, and 8-4 in America East play.
Maine struck with a run in the bottom of the first inning, and added to its lead with three runs in the bottom of the third frame. The Black Bears scored four more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, before tacking on two runs in the bottom of the seventh, to complete the scoring.
Starter Austin Chase went three and two thirds innings and allowed seven total runs, four earned, on seven hits. Kasceim Graham came in for three innings in relief, and allowed three runs on six hits while issuing three strikeouts. Ryan White allowed just one hit in the final 1.1 innings of work.
The Great Danes got singles from Pete DiResta and Mike Tirri, along with base hits by Greg Muller and pinch hitter Vincent Martorelli.
UAlbany will return to action on Saturday, March 5 hosting Maine for a doubleheader to start the second three-game series between the two teams.
