Burlington, Vt.- Ariana Parker and Jess Antelmi each tally four points in the UAlbany win over Vermont, 12-10, on Saturday, April 27. Rachel Burek chipped in with three goals on three shots. The Great Danes grab the fourth and final spot in the America East Conference Tournament. UAlbany will face off against host and No.1 seed Boston U. in the semifinals on Thursday, May 4.
Both teams would come out quickly to combine for five goals in the first ten minutes. After falling 2-0 early, UAlbany (10-5, 3-3 AE) responded with three straight goals in six minutes to go up 3-2 with 20:03 remaining. Parker, Burek and Antelmi each would record a goal during that stretch in that order.
Vermont (9-8, 2-4 AE) came back to grab the lead, 5-4 with a 3-1 run with 9:01 remaining. Samantha Stern led the charge with a goal and an assist during the run.
Vermont and UAlbany would trade goals until the Catamounts tied the game up at nine with 14:45 remaining in the game. Karli Mackendrick tallied her second goal of the game to put the game square at nine.
UAlbany then took over the final 14 minutes, going on a 3-0 run and the defense held Vermont to just one goal during the final stretch.
The Great Danes goalkeeper Anna Berman (9-5) picked up her ninth win of the season as she tallied eight saves on the game. The Catamounts Laura Barber (9-8) finished the game with five saves in the loss.
