PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The pairings for the 2012 BIG EAST Men’s Lacrosse Championship were announced by the conference on Sunday, April 22.
Syracuse (3-2 BIG EAST) is the No. 3 seed and will play tournament host and No. 2 seed Villanova (4-1 BIG EAST) in the semifinals of the inaugural championship, which takes place on May 3 and 5 at Villanova Stadium.
The other semifinal matchup features No. 1 seed Notre Dame (5-0 BIG EAST) against No. 4 seed St. John’s (3-3 BIG EAST). The Irish secured the tournament’s top seed and a share of the BIG EAST regular-season title by virtue of a 10-7 win against Villanova yesterday.
Syracuse, Notre Dame and Villanova each have one BIG EAST game remaining. Syracuse plays Notre Dame and Villanova faces Providence. Both games are Saturday, April 28 and neither can impact tournament seeding. St. John’s conference schedule is complete.
Georgetown and Rutgers also play a conference game on Friday, April 27, however, both schools have already been eliminated from tournament contention. General admission tickets for the BIG EAST Championship are $16 for adults and $8 for youths (12 and under).
They include both semifinal games on Thursday, May 3 and the championship game on Saturday, May 5. Individual day tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youths (12 and under).
