GOLDEN KNIGHTS FINISH BUSY WEEK AT CAPITAL DISTRICT CLASSIC

TROY – The College of Saint Rose had a pair of student-athletes register first place performances to highlight competition at the Capital District Classic that was held at Ned Harkness Field and Track on the campus of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute today. There was no team scoring at the meet that had a local flavor with three institutions participating from within the Capital Region.

Sophomore Soroya Hudson (Cornwall, NY/Cornwall) and senior Samson Dikeman (Altamont, NY/Bishop Gibbons) each turned in a pair of winning efforts to lead the way for the Golden Knights. Hudson captured the triple jump behind a leap of 11.62 meters. Meanwhile, Dikeman stopped the clock in 9:54.59 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.

Several other Saint Rose athletes registered top-five efforts throughout the afternoon, including junior Umar Hasan (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) who was the runner-up in both hurdle events. Hasan ran the 110 meter hurdles in 15.89 and broke the tape in 55.90 at the 400 meter distance.

Juniors Dana Welch (Cornwall, NY/Cornwall) and Katie DiBello (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) also turned in second place performances. Welch crossed the line in 2:21.84 in the 800 meter run, while DiBello completed the 5,000 meter run in 19:30.15.

Today served as the final tune-up for both clubs in preparation for the Northeast-10 Conference Championships, which are scheduled for next weekend on the campus of Southern Connecticut State University. The meet is set to start Friday and conclude Saturday evening.
