Cambridge, Mass. - Junior righty Austin
Chase was named the America East Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced by
the league office on Monday afternoon. It is Chase's first weekly award of the
season.
Chase threw a complete seven-inning game against
Binghamton in the first half of Sunday’s doubleheader, scattering just five hits
without allowing an earned run. He did not issue a walk while striking out four
batters. The only opposing run to cross the plate came in the top of the first
inning after a fielding error, but Chase responded by completing a 1-2-3 inning
in the second frame.
Chase picked up his third win of the season in the 4-1 victory, lowering his ERA to a team-best 4.22 in 70.1 innings this season, the most of any pitcher on the UAlbany staff, and he is third with 39 strikeouts. In conference games, Chase ranks third in the league with a 2.75 ERA.
