Bachetti Rises to Take $2,500 Win, Lavoy Goes Back to Back

West Lebanon, NY: The Summer heat has finally arrived at the famed ½ mile dirt oval known as the Valley of Speed, and so did the red hot racing action. With big money on the line, Andy Bachetti rose to the head of the class to cash in on the big payday.

A full field of big block Modifieds took to the speedway for a special Bedell Race Engines $2,500 to Win 30 lap showdown. But that kind of money on the line, the casualties came early and often. Right out of the box, the front row of Steve Hough and Denny Soltis got the field to the first turns, but that’s as far as Hough would get!

As the field squeezed outta 2, Hough ran out of racing room and ended up in the wall, destroying his #34H and sending him pitside for the night. While all that was going on, the #20H of Brett Hearn suffered a terminal drivetrain issue that sidelined his dominance on the high banks for the night as well.

On the restart, the #11A of Kyle Armstrong and the #0 of Soltis rolled into turn one, but this time it was the #60 of Brian Berger who got tuned the wrong way into traffic, and blasted the boiler plate, ending his night for a solid finish.

Once the wrecking was finished, a race broke out, and it was Armstrong out in front of the field. But Andy Bachetti’s #34B powered his way to the top spot by lap 9, and checked out on the field. Eddie Marshall and Kolby Schroder parked their respective #98’s on top of each other in turn 3 to bring out the caution on lap #15.

But that was not going to keep the #34B of victory lane. As the checkers flew, Bachetti took the win, with a charging #57 of Donnie Corellis crossing the line 2nd. J.R. Heffner rallied to finish 3rd, followed by Kyle Sheldon, and Keith Flach to round out the top 5 finishers.

The Budget Sportsman feature event had the #14 of John Virgilio on the point at the green flag, then again at the checkers, as the sophomore driver led wire to wire to take his 1st career win in the open wheel ranks!

Bobby Hackel IV charged to finish 2nd in the closing laps, with Robbie Knipe, Whitey Slavin, and Chris George battling to round out the top 5.

In the LV Sportsman, 2 wrecks at the same time, one on the front stretch between the #55 of Brett Haas and the #25 of Frank Harper, and the other was the #34 of Paul Knox in turn 2, thinned the field a bit as Kim Lavoy took over the lead by lap 5, and never looked back.

Even a late race caution didn’t rattle the veteran driver, as Lavoy powered her #3 to the win to go back to back. Steve Meilleur had to settle for 2nd, while Chad Pierce, Dylan Gibson, and Haas battled it out to complete the top 5.

In the Pro Stock division, it was Jon Routhier also leading wire to wire to take the 20 lap feature event. Jay Corbin closed the gap in the closing laps, but had to settle for 2nd. Nick Hilt, Jason Casey, and Chad Jeseo crossed the line to finish 3rd through 5th.

In the Pure Stocks, Jason Meltz, Jeff Meltz and Phil Wood picked up the wins.

On the schedule for next Saturday is a special Buanno Trucking $3,000 to Win Maynard Forrette Memorial for the Modifieds, plus all weekly division including the 4 Cylinders! Then on June 2nd, it’s KeyBank and Anderson Equipment night presenting the Steve Hough Motors 358 Modifieds.
