Cambridge, Mass. - Senior lefthander Sean Lucas was named the America East Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. It is the first weekly award for Lucas.
Lucas led the Great Danes to a 1-0 extra-inning win over Maine in Orono on Saturday. The lefty went eight innings on the mound, scattering eight hits and striking out six without allowing a run or issuing a walk. Lucas left the game without the decision, but UAlbany eventually won 1-0 in the tenth inning to sweep the doubleheader.
Lucas has pitched 56 innings for the Great Danes this year with a 4.82 ERA. He leads the team with 43 strikeouts.
