Rob Pitcher Picture Perfect For $3,000 Payday!

West Lebanon, NY: The mighty high banks at Lebanon Valley Speedway played host to many legendary drivers throughout is nearly 3 decades of racing history. Maynard Forrette was just one of the legends that were defined as a pioneer of the sport as we know it, but he was also well known for being just Maynard.

A special 30 Lap Modified Feature in his memory brought along a lice payday of a cool $3,000 to the winner. The field of 24 came to the green with the Kingfish, Mike King on the point with veteran racer Rob Pitcher right alongside.

By turn 2, Pitcher gained the advantage, and began to pull away. King’s ride began to fade through the field, but it was clear that Pitcher was gonna have the car to beat. In the middle of the field, the battle was on as Brett Hearn, Donnie Corellis and J.R. Heffner began to battle through the field to make a run at the big money.

Corellis’ #57 slowed by lap 6 with a driveline issue, and Kenny Tremont Jr’s #115 went pitside soon thereafter. Hearn’s #20H and Heffner’s #74 were deep in a heated battle as the #17 of Pitcher stretched out his commanding lead.

Hearn hit the afterburners with just over a handful of laps remaining to get to the runner-up spot, but that was as far as he was gonna get, as Rob Pitcher led wire to wire for the green to checkers win in the Maynard Forrette Memorial, and the $3,000 that went with it!

Hearn crossed the line 2nd followed by Paul Gilardi, Steve Hough and Kyle Armstrong to round out the top 5 finishers.

In the LV Sportsman 20 lap feature event, Sean Mandel’s Ford powered #66 jumped out to the early lead from his front row starting position, and battled veteran racer Frank Harper down the stretch. At the checkers, only 6 inches separated 1st from 2nd, as Mandel held off the hard charging challenges from Harper to score his first career Sportsman win.

Harper settled for 2nd followed by Brett Haas, Chad Pierce and Steve Meilleur to complete the top 5.

In the full fendered Pro Stock 20 lap feature, several cautions slowed the field early. Chuck Towslee kept his #23 at the head of the class and out of trouble early, which set up a second half spectacle that had the fans at the edge of their seats for most of the 2nd half of the race.

Towslee, Paul LaRochelle, Victor Hopkins, Robbie Speed, Chad Jeseo and Jay Corbin ran bumper to bumper, door to door for over a dozen green flag laps for the most exciting battle of the night.

But at the end of it all, Towslee held on for the win over Jeseo, LaRochelle, Speed and Hopkins rounding out the top 5 finishers.

In the Purestocks, Dave Stickles took home the win in PS#1, Scott Morris charged for the win in PS#2, while Al Relyea scored his 3rd win of the season. Steven Loomis won in the Dual Cam 4 Cylinders, while Jim Williams took the win in the Single Cams.

Next Saturday Night is the KeyBank and Anderson Equipment Steve Hough Motors 358 Modifieds along with the full weekly divisions on tap! Then on June 9th, it’s the Alarms of Berkshire County and Halpin’s Grub and Grog presenting Biker Night with the return of the Pro Stock Echo Series and Budget Sportsman.
