UAlbany Baseball Drops Final Non-Conference Tilt of the Season to Hofstra, 10-3

Albany, N.Y. - Despite two doubles by Mike Tirri, UAlbany fell to Hofstra, 10-3, in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday afternoon at Varsity Field. The Great Danes fall to 16-29-1 on the season, while Hofstra improves to 29-18.

The Pride jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, and added a single run in the second. UAlbany scored two runs in the bottom of the third, getting a base hit from Brian Bullard, before Tirri knocked out the first of his doubles. Tirri came home for the second run of the game for the Great Danes, sliding into home on a single by Josh Nethaway.

The middle three innings were scoreless for both teams, before Hofstra scored single runs in the seventh and eighth. The Pride came home for three runs in the top of the ninth, before UAlbany scored one run in the bottom of the final frame to wrap up the scoring. Bullard recorded an RBI single to score catcher Frank Buksa.

Nethaway and Bullard also recorded two hits for the Great Danes, while Nolan Gaige, Gordon Madej and Buksa all knocked out one hit apiece. Senior Travis Wilson went five innings in relief for the Great Danes, scattering three hits and striking out five. Starter Nick Kozlowski earned the win on the mound for Hofstra, going five innings with two strikeouts.

UAlbany will return to action over the weekend, hosting Binghamton in a four-game America East Conference series.
