Rich Vleck, HAMMETT
, PA , (May 27, 2012)- For the second straight Memorial Day Weekend, the Patriot
Sprint Tour scheduled a doubleheader at Stateline and Eriez Speedways. For the
second straight year, Stateline’s event was completed, while Eriez was
not.
Heavy thunderstorms pounded the grounds of the Eriez
Speedway shortly after noon on Sunday, leaving track owners Bobby and Kathy
Rohrer no choice but to pull the plug on a Memorial Weekend tradition. Over 20
sprint cars were already in the pits at the 1/3-mile oval, and more were on the
way when a second deluge hit just before 3:00 P.M.
The Patriot Sprint
Tour will return to the Eriez Speedway later in the season, with the replacement
date to be confirmed later this week. Before that point, PST regulars will have
a rare mid-season hiatus, with the next sanctioned event Saturday June 16 at
Mercer Raceway Park .
