PERRY, N.Y. – Syracuse men’s lacrosse seniors Kevin Drew (Katonah, N.Y.) and Tommy Palasek (Rocky Point, N.Y.) have been named to the North roster for the 2012 USILA/LaxWorld North-South Senior All-Star Game. The annual clash pits a team of seniors from Division I and II Northern schools against a group of Division I and II seniors from Southern institutions.
This year’s game is scheduled for Friday, May 25 at Harvard Stadium in Boston. Faceoff is 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 and include admission to the Division III senior all-star game at 3 p.m.
The Orange’s top short-stick defensive midfielder, Drew was a 2012 All-BIG EAST First Team selection. He ranked third on the team with 34 ground balls. Offensively, Drew chipped in 10 points, including seven goals. He recorded three two-goal games this season, including scoring twice against Duke in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
An All-BIG EAST Second Team choice, Palasek led the Orange in scoring with 54 points (24 goals, 30 assists) in 2012. He was voted the Most Outstanding Player of the inaugural BIG EAST Championship after scoring 10 points (four goals, six assists) versus Villanova and St. John’s to lead Syracuse to the conference tournament title.
The inclusion of Drew and Palasek marks the 33rd time in the last 36 years at least one Syracuse player has been selected to compete in the North-South Game.
Army’s Joe Alberici is the head coach of the North squad. He’ll be opposed by Kevin Cassese (Lehigh) and Shawn Nadelen (Towson), who have been chosen as co-head coaches of the South.
