BALTIMORE – Syracuse junior defenseman
Brian Megill (Clark, N.J.) received second-team All-America recognition
from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) on Thursday,
May 24. Megill was one of four close defensemen named to the second team,
joining Virginia’s Matt Lovejoy, Duke’s Michael Manley and Cornell’s Jason
Noble.
The honor is Megill’s first All-America nod, and
marks the fifth straight year a Syracuse defenseman has been rewarded with
All-America status.
One of the
25 nominees for the Tewaaraton Award as the nation’s top player, Megill was a
unanimous 2012 All-BIG EAST First Team selection. He led the Orange in ground
balls (62) and set a school single-season record with 37 caused turnovers.
Megill also contributed three points (one goal, two assists) on offense, and
posted a .468 (22-47) faceoff winning percentage.
