Men's Track & Field 4x100-Meter Relay Team Breaks School Record At IC4A

Princeton, N.J.- UAlbany men's track and field squad competed at the IC4A Championships this past weekend. The 4x100-meter relay team of Earnest Waters, Rashawn Simpson, Donald Williams Jr. and Jonathan Santana finished with a mark of 40.53 at the finals.

On the track, Jonathan Santana ran a personal best and and second fastest time in school history in the 400-meter dash (47.19) on Day two in the preliminaries. Santana finished in the finals of the 400-meter with a time of 48.13.

Both Chris Burke and Paul Lagno third and 12th in the finals of the 1500-meter run. Burke finished with a time of 3:47.08 and teammate Lagno finished at 4:09.15.

Peter Rowell in the finals of the 800-meter run finished in 10th with a time 1:57.15.

In the field events, Alfonso Scannapieco competed in the pole vault and recorded a 6th-place mark of 16-feet eight-inches. Stephen Hassard, in the discus throw, placed sixth with a mark of 168-feet and six-inches.
Ethan Clary competed in the 3000-meter steeple chase and placed 26th with a time of 9:25.06.
The 4x100-meter relay squad and the rest of the men's track and field will wait to see on Thursday, May 17 if they qualify for the NCAA East Regionals.
